Haircut

I did it! I got my haircut, and I love it!

Wunderbar Gut

It's confession time.  I am officially addicted to Amish fiction.  Yes, I know what you're thinking.  Really, though.  It is so good.  It is usually love stories with some drama thrown in for good measure, and I tell you, I can't stop.

In the past 6 months I've probably read over 20 Amish books.  I also listen to an Amish podcast!  I told you, I'm addicted.

I think the appeal to me is the pure love story, the simple living (not easy!), and the fact that most of these authors follow a family or group of people throughout their books. I get sad when books end and I can't follow along with characters I love anymore!  Anyone else?

My favorite author is Beth Wiseman.   She started this entire obsession with her Daughters of the Promise series.  Then I moved on to Barbara Cameron, then Kathleen Fuller, then Beverly Lewis, then....you get the idea.

I'm currently halfway through An Amish Christmas, and it is so good!  It is three different stories, but they follow a group of people in an Amish community.  I love how the people overlap in the stories.  I stayed up way too late reading about Lydia and Daniel last night!

Whew! I'm glad to have that off my chest!  So, spill it, what is your currently obsession/guilty pleasure?

In this corner,

weighing in at 31.6 pounds, is Blakey!

He's a healthy, happy 3 year old boy.  He loves to ride his bike, play legos, and go to school. He shares well with his sister (most of the time), loves to cuddle with Mom, and is obsessed with Curious George.

Blake also loves to give the stink eye to any nurse that gets close to him in case they are carrying a shot of any kind.

Height:  38 1/4 inches (70th percentile)

Our Morning Walk

Every morning that it is not raining, this is my view.  Our morning walk to school.  It starts out nice, all of us walking to together.

Then it turns into Ava leaving us behind while Blake runs for her.

It's magnificent.

Making sure you aren't dead...

Today I went to CVS to get my annual flu shot.  While I was filling out the paperwork and getting my insurance in the system the pharmacy tech excuses himself to make a phone call.

The next thing I hear is, "Mrs. X, hi, this is CVS.  We were just calling to make sure you weren't dead."  At first I thought he was joking, but he kept going.  "We called yesterday and you didn't answer or call us back so we wanted to make sure you were still alive."

Then Blake decided to clear an entire shelf of Visine, so I missed the rest of the conversation.  I understand the point of the call, but man, a little tact goes a long way.  Can you imagine getting that call.  What do you say, "Oh, yeah, still kickin' it!"

I think I may start all of my calls like this in the future, could be fun to hear the response.

New Hair

It's the beginning of a new season and for me that means a new haircut and a new hair color.  I went really blonde this summer, and frankly, I'm over it.  I'm not saying I'm going back to my roots, but I'm going darker, lowlights.  Tuesday.  I've also 90% decided on a mix between these two haircuts.

I'm nervous.  I need a change though.  Still, it's short.  I wish I was getting my hair cut today so I wouldn't chicken out.

Coming Home

I've decided to come back to this space.  I started this as an outlet for myself, but somehow, it just got away from me.   I hope you'll join me.
